S/S
Walter Leonhardt was on it's way home with iron from Sweden, for
the german warmachine, when it was located by the Submarine, E-19.
The crew was told to leave in the rescueboats and right after,
explosives was placed in one of the holds to sink the ship.
The
wreck is not as intact as the S/S Nicomedia and S/S Director Reppenhagen,
but absolutly worth a visit. As you see on the pictures to the
left, the rear part of the ship is a very interesting place. A
nice wheel is found here together with davids for a rescueboat
and entrance to the inside of the wreck. A visibility underwater,
from 10 to 20 meters, which is not unusual that far of the coast,
makes diving here a very exciting experience.
